Everybody's Smart in Their Own Way!

This week we have spent time learning about the multiple intelligence.  While this may sound unfamiliar to you, just consider how you best remember things or solve problems when you read the titles.  There are 8 all together.  We have explored body smart, music smart, people smart, and nature smart so far.  We also are learning that we may use many of these at different times. We really enjoy trying them out!

Here is a peek into what we've been up to....
Working together.....

Using our big and small muscles....

Listening and following directions....

REMINDERS:

  • Please watch for towels each Friday, wash, and return on Monday!  We are still missing a few towels.  Please grab one for next week!
  • Coupon Book Fund Raiser - There is still time!  All books and / or orders are due back to school by next Wed., Aug. 27th.
  • Box Tops - Clip and send in!  For every 50 a child brings in, their name is entered into a drawing for t.v.
  • Monday, Aug. 25 - Early Prevention of School Failure Screening.... Please make sure students are here well rested and on time!  Thanks for your help!

Friendship Friday!

It is hard to believe we've finished our first week already!  They have done so well with learning our procedures!

Today, we learned what "explore" means.... to look around and see what we can.  We went outside to read a story about exploring, we explored the rose garden, and we explored some of our math manipulatives.

Centers went really well as we practiced our rotation procedures:
1. Stay with your group
2. Wait your turn
3. Listen for the chimes

Please check backpacks tonight!
Our BLUE folders are full of important information to fill out and send back on MONDAY, please!

Enjoy your weekend!

Making New Friends!

We are continuing to practice our school procedures.  Procedures help us know how to do things!  We are getting very good at our restroom procedures and hallway procedures.  We just introduced our Welcome Procedures (for coming in the room each morning).  Hopefully they will be able to tell you those tomorrow!

We also introduced our center rotation procedures.  The students are learning to work with a group, listen to directions, exploring some of our "tools" in the room, and even listening for the chimes to be quiet.  They did great!

SCHEDULE CHANGE:
Kindergarten is going to mass tomorrow, Friday, August 15.  Girls need to be in jumpers.

REMINDERS:

  • Friday Folders - Please look over the kindergarten handbook about Friday Folders.  There will be a lot of information coming home tomorrow, including some missing forms the office / we need.  These need to be filled out and returned Monday!  We also have our first fund raiser information pack.  We want 100% participation to sell at least one coupon book per family!
  • Towels for brain break - Towels will also come home tomorrow for washing.  We still are missing a few towels, so please grab one out of the closet to send in!
  • Car Pool - Tomorrow we will come out with the other students.  The students have done very well and are learning to actively look for their cars.  Each day gets a little easier!  Being toward the front helps them see you quicker, but always feel free to wave them over.  Please remember to let us know if there will be any changes in your pickup plans!

We have had a great first day!  So much to learn and see!  The word for the day (and the rest of the week) is PROCEDURES.  We are learning how we do things at Holy Spirit School so we all stay safe, have fun, and get our work finished!

Here are a few pictures from the day!

We met Mr. Branigan for P.E.

We found the chickens!

We practiced our class meeting / circle time procedures.

We learned our Cafe procedures!

AND, most important, we visited Mrs. Parsons!
